The Most Advanced Digital Variable Impedance Transducer for Noncontact Linear Position / Displacement / Proximity Sensing
ZDG62 is an exciting eddy current sensor introduced by the UK in 2013, which will revolutionize non-contact linear positioning / displacement / proximity detection. Its revolutionary technological innovations are mainly reflected in the fact that it adds an adaptive bridge circuit based on the first generation of eddy current sensors! When replacing the probe or performing a higher level of calibration, you will no longer need to connect a computer to download the configuration file, and ZDG62 can be used with almost any manufacturer's eddy current probe.
The biggest difference between ZDG62 and previous digital eddy current displacement sensors is that all functions can be achieved with four keys on the front panel. All the information is displayed with an easy-to-read, overall digital display. No longer need to be connected to the computer for calibration!Regardless of the linearity of the customer's option, ZDG62 will detect the parameters of the probe coil through the measured object, and the bridge circuit will automatically balance the probe's coil for the current range and the measured object to the best performance.

Sensor Cables
Sensor cable extension
Standard cable extensions are available in 1 meter increments to extend the standard 2 meter cables integral with the sensors to a maximum of 10 meters. If a standard extension cable will not suffice, call Kaman to discuss your particular requirements.
In-line cable connector splice
Many sensors come with integral sensor cables. Routing this cable in some applications is difficult and something you only want to do once. Including an in-line connector splice in the cable, near the sensor itself, allows for easy sensor replacement should the need arise.
Hermetic in-line connector splice
Some applications pass the sensor through a pressure boundary, most commonly a vacuum chamber wall. We offer an in-line hermetic bulkhead splice for these applications.
Standard published ranges are based on meeting a set of performance specs. Custom calibrations are possible to meet specific application needs. Contact a ZSY applications engineer if a custom calibration is desired.
Target material
Unless otherwise specified, nonferrous systems will be calibrated with an aluminum target, ferrous systems will be calibrated with a 4130 steel target. If your target material is significantly different in conductivity and/or permeability it may be best to calibrate using the same material as your target.
Temperature compensation
Standard factory temperature compensation calibration can be purchased and is performed on the test bench. If a specific output range and/or temperature range is desired, contact ZSY to discuss your particular requirements.
Unless otherwise specified, the default output is 0-10VDC. Optional outputs include 0-5VDC, +/-10VDC, +/-5VDC, 4-20mA and 0-20mA.
Power supplies
P-3400
SERIES For economy and reliability in a modular power supply, P-3400 Series is unsurpassed. The regulated ±15 Vdc output is compatible with all eddy cuurent measuring systems requiring an external power source, or for any other use requiring a ±15 Vdc output.
The P-3410 features 100mA output with one terminal block, and will power one measuring channel. The P-3450 features 500 mA output with three terminal blocks, and will power up to six measuring channels.

P-3600
SERIES Compatible with the ZED23 and ZED24, these switching power supplies offer clean, reliable, DC voltage output in a small, DIN-rail-mount package.

Calibration fixtures
Calibration of a displacement measuring system verifies that the system output relates to a known physical displacement. Calibration of a ZSY eddy current measuring system requires the ability to position a target at specific locations relative to the range of the sensor.

All ZSY balanced bridge-type measuring systems are calibrated prior to shipment, and ready to use out of the box. Certain requirements can necessitate the need to recalibrate the system:
> Sensor replacement due to physical damage.
> New calibrated range requirements.
> Sensor/bridge change to different model.
> Calibration check/recalibration program.
Proper sizing of a calibration fixture is based on sensor diameter. The calibration fixture has a recommended maximum sensor size for use, based on the physical size of the fixture that sets the radial distance from the sensor to the fixture itself. When a sensor larger than the recommended maximum is calibrated using the fixture, the performance of the system can be affected.
This fixture can be used with virtually any inductive type sensor manufactured in a cylindrical housing, and is provided with a rotating-shaft micrometer head with an aluminum anvil/target. If a different target material is desired, a suitably-sized piece of the target material is attached to the existing anvil.
For larger diameter sensors, ZSY offers hard impact precision ceramic calibration spacers. The set includes seven spacers, 1.5 inches in diameter in the following thicknesses: 0.050 inch, 0.100 inch, 0.200 inch, 0.300 inch, 0.400 inch, 0.500 inch and 1.00 inch. Each spacer may be purchased separately, and a 0.025 inch spacer is also available.

What’s Different This Time
Probably the biggest difference between the ZDG62 and past digital inductive linear displacement sensors is that all functions can be accessed through 4 pushbuttons on the front
panel. All information is displayed on an easy to read, integral digital display. There is no requirement to connect to a PC!
What’s Unique about ZDG62n
Technological innovation has resulted in a self tuning bridge. There is no longer the need to connect to a PC to download a configuration file when changing sensors or doing high level calibrations.
Attaching a sensor to the ZDG62 and performing a simple calibration procedure via the pushbuttons will tune the bridge. It not only tunes the bridge, its self optimization will ensure the best performance possible for any given, combination of sensor, target, cable & calibration.
Calibrations
Linearity calibration is a simple routine via the pushbuttons. Multiple point calibrations are possible. The 2-point calibration provides a reliable, precise repeatable output, the 6-point calibration provides outstanding linearity, and the 21 point calibration the best possible linearity.
Temperature compensation calibration by the user is also possible. Simply positioning the sensor at 2 different positions within the calibrated range at 2 different temperatures and depressing a pushbutton will complete a temperature compensated calibration. The same procedure can also be done with the electronics.
